Inbound Faculty Mobility

Short Visit Program

Expand your global reach through the Short Visit Program at the University of Sharjah (UoS). Broaden your horizons and strengthen global collaboration by joining UoS as a visiting faculty member, fellow, or researcher for a short-term academic experience.

Examples include:

  • Research fellowships
  • Collaborative research projects
  • Delivering workshops, lectures, or seminars

Duration: 2 weeks to 3 months

This program is designed to foster international research partnerships, promote knowledge exchange, and provide visiting academics with meaningful engagement in UoS’s vibrant scholarly community.


Finding a Faculty Host

All visiting faculty members must be hosted by a University of Sharjah faculty member.
We recommend reaching out directly to departments or faculty in your area of expertise to discuss potential visit opportunities.


How to Apply

  1. Email The Office of International Relations oir@sharjah.ac.ae
    • Please include the following in your email application
      •  A 1-page visit plan outlining your objectives
      • Your most up-to-date CV
      • Proposed visit dates
  2. Once submitted, the Office of International Relations (OIR) will contact your identified UoS faculty host.
    • If you haven’t yet connected with a faculty member, OIR can assist in matching you with one based on your field of expertise.
  3. After the faculty member confirms their ability to host you. Once approved, the OIR will issue an official confirmation letter for your visit.
    • Applications should be submitted at least one month before the intended visit.
    • Priority is given to faculty from top-ranked universities, though applicants from other well-regarded institutions are also encouraged to apply.
  4. Please note that the University of Sharjah is not responsible for any costs associated with your visit.
    • Visiting faculty are responsible for visa fees, accommodation, airfare, insurance, and personal expenses.
  5. The OIR can assist in arranging on-campus housing for your visit; however, faculty accommodation is subject to availability and not guaranteed.

US Fulbright Scholar Program

The University of Sharjah (UoS) is proud to be listed among the official host institutions in the United Arab Emirates for the Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program.

The Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program offers over 400 awards annually for U.S. citizens to teach, conduct research, and engage in professional projects around the world. College and university faculty, researchers, artists, and professionals from a wide range of fields are encouraged to apply.

This collaboration reflects UoS’s commitment to advancing international academic exchange and fostering cross-cultural partnerships between the U.S. and the UAE.
