12th Health Professions Education Publication Forum

The 12th Health Professions Education Publication Forum (HPEPF), organized by the Medical Education Center, was held under the title “Instilling Social Accountability into Health Professions Education.” The session was delivered by Dr. Mohamed Hassan Taha, MBBS, PhD, FAcadMEd, FAMEE – Director of the Medical Education Center.

Dr. Taha presented a compelling discussion on the integration of social accountability in health professions education. Drawing on the World Health Organization’s definition, he emphasized the obligation of medical and health sciences schools to align their education, research, and service efforts with the pressing health needs of their local and national communities.

The forum highlighted key strategies for embedding social accountability into institutional missions, curriculum development, and stakeholder engagement, showcasing global case studies and evidence-based frameworks.

The session was moderated by Dr. Alounoud Almarzooqi, Assistant Professor at the College of Health Sciences, Health Care Management, who guided a dynamic exchange of perspectives and practices among attendees focused on fostering socially accountable future healthcare professionals.
