We offer a range of facilities designed to enhance your university experience, including well-appointed rooms, TV lounges, multi-purpose common halls for events and activities, and dedicated study rooms that promote a productive learning environment. Additionally, computer labs are available within the dormitories to support your academic requirements.

Students also benefit from complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi and 24/7 supervision by dedicated dormitory staff, ensuring a safe and supportive living environment that feels like home.

The University of Sharjah campus includes two separate housing complexes: one for male students located in the men’s college campus and another for female students located in two sites—one within the women’s college campus and the other near the medical colleges.

Our main goal is to ensure students are in a comfortable and supportive environment that promotes academic success and builds strong relationships among students from diverse cultural backgrounds. University housing serves as a haven for intellectual and social growth, where students can share experiences and develop personal and leadership skills, creating unforgettable lifelong memories.

We also focus on offering a balanced lifestyle by organizing weekly outings, sports activities, and entertainment programs that blend education, supervision, and fun in a family-like environment. Our commitment includes providing a safe and educational atmosphere, with 24/7 staff supervision to address concerns and ensure residents’ well-being. Join our vibrant community where you can surpass academically and build lasting friendships.

Overview

The primary objective of female student housing is to ensure appropriate residential services and to provide all means of lasting comfort, while also fostering an academic atmosphere and strengthening bonds between students from various nationalities.

It fully supervises all matters related to resident students from inside and outside the UAE who live in the dormitories due to their personal circumstances.

The University Dormitory Administration is responsible for preparing the annual dormitories plan, as well as quarterly and yearly reports and statistics. It also oversees the issuance of dormitories announcements and publications.

Among its basis responsibilities is welcoming new students at the beginning of each academic semester, offering guidance, introducing them to the dorms rules and regulations, and informing them of their rights and responsibilities. The department also follows up on students who require additional care and provides ongoing health monitoring.

Moreover, the administration organizes entertaining programs, sports activities, and weekly trips to ensure students enjoy a comfortable stay in a nurturing, family-like environment that balances guidance, education, and enjoyment.

The female dormitory complex consists of 13 residential buildings: eight general buildings that accommodate students from all majors, and five dedicated buildings for female students of the medical colleges.

The dormitory management is keen to provide a safe and educational environment. Therefore, supervisors are available 24/7 in shifts to meet all student needs and monitor their entry to and exit from the campus.

Policies and Procedures

The dormitory administration aims to accommodate the largest number of students possible while maintaining an environment that encourages innovation and achievement.

  • Applying for University Housing:

Housing applications are submitted electronically after the student completes university admission procedures and receives their university ID and password. The online application is designed to facilitate the process for students from both inside and outside the UAE.

Housing placement is done by the Housing Allocation Committee after confirming electronic payment of the reservation. The student will then receive an email on her university account indicating her accommodation assignment within the dormitory.

Opening the Student Housing File

The student’s housing file is opened in the presence of her legal guardian (father), or a legally authorized representative with an official document issued by the court. Alternatively, a first-degree relative may attend to sign and open the file. If none of the above is possible, the dormitory administration will send the file via express postal to the guardian’s place of residence for completion and return, with a minimal service fee.

The following required documents must be attached:

  • 4 recent personal photos
  • Copy of the student’s passport
  • Copy of the guardian’s Emirates ID or passport
  • Copy of the Family Book (for UAE nationals)
  • Copy of the medical examination report
  • Copy of the certificate of good conduct
  • Copy of the student’s birth certificate
  • Copy of the student’s Emirates ID
  • Copy of the UAE residence visa

A designated staff member will explain all dormitory rules and regulations to both the student and her guardian. The student must sign a commitment to adhere to all regulations and accept any penalties resulting from violations.

The guardian must also provide the names of authorized individuals (first- and second-degree relatives) allowed to pick up and drop off the student from the dormitory. Additionally, they must specify the type of transportation authorized for the student (private car, public transportation, scheduled trips, etc.).

Student Room Assignment

Student placement is handled by the Housing Allocation Committee, which includes the Housing Director and Housing Supervisors. Placement is based on the student’s preferences, room availability, and, as much as possible, coordination with students of similar nationalities and academic majors.

Rules

  • Upon joining the female dormitory, each student must obtain a local (UAE) mobile number to facilitate communication with the dorm supervisors.
  • Students are required to check in daily at the reception with the supervisors between 8:00 PM and 10:00 PM to confirm their presence in the dormitory.
  • The dormitory provides room cleaning once a week by the building's cleaning staff. The student must secure her room and select a suitable time for the cleaning.
  • Dorm supervisors have the right to enter a student’s room in specific cases, such as to check cleanliness, record violations, or if the student fails to check in at night. Note that night check-in is mandatory from 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM, and each resident must be physically present during this time.
  • If the student wishes to leave with her family, she must obtain an exit permit from the supervisor and register her leaving in the logbook, whether it's an overnight stay or same-day return. The accompanying person must be one of the authorized individuals listed in the student’s file, and the return must also be signed.
  • If the student wants to go to the gym or student center after 5:00 PM, she must register her leaving and return times with the supervisors and also inform the Police officers (W13) at the main gate.
  • For visits to friends in other dorm buildings after 10:00 PM (or earlier), a special logbook is available with the supervisors to record leaving and return times.

Transportation

  • Local students who wish to use the weekend shuttle buses to return home in different emirates must register their names in the leaving log to ensure a seat. No transportation will be provided if the number of students is insufficient or if registration is not completed.
  • Transportation for medical appointments (including Sharjah clinics, residence visa medicals, and Emirates ID renewal) is arranged by the dormitory. The student must notify her building supervisor at least 24 hours in advance, during working hours, to allow coordination with the university’s transportation department.
