It provides a variety of services, activities, and full support for students, making it much more than just accommodation — it is a vibrant hub for growth and engagement.
Enjoy comfort and the many services available: from cozy rooms, TV lounges, and common areas for events and activities, to study halls designed for learning and revision, as well as computer labs for academic support. High-speed wireless internet (Wi-Fi) is available free of charge, and a team of supervisors is on duty 24/7 to ensure your safety and comfort. With us, you will truly feel at home.
There are two separate dormitory locations within the University of Sharjah: one for male students (in the Men’s Colleges campus) and another for female students, with two sites — one within the Women’s Colleges campus and another near the Medical Colleges.
Our primary goal is to provide a supportive and comfortable environment that promotes academic success and builds relationships among students from diverse cultural backgrounds. Student dormitory is a place where students can flourish intellectually and socially, exchange experiences, and develop personal and leadership skills, creating unforgettable memories.
We also focus on offering a balanced lifestyle by organizing weekly outings, sports events, and recreational programs that combine education, supervision, and enjoyment in a family-like atmosphere. Our commitment is to maintain a safe and educational environment, with supervisors available around the clock to address any concerns and ensure the well-being of residents. Join our vibrant community, where you can achieve academic excellence and build lifelong friendships.
Overview
The main goal of the Female Student Dormitory is to provide proper residential services, ensure students’ comfort, and create an environment that supports academic achievement while fostering friendships among students from different nationalities.
The dormitory Administration supervises all matters related to resident students, whether they come from outside the UAE or other Emirates. It is also responsible for preparing the annual dormitory plan, issuing reports and statistics, and managing announcements and publications related to dormitory.
At the start of every semester, the dormitory team welcomes new students, introduces them to dormitory regulations, explains their responsibilities, and provides guidance. They also monitor and support students who require special care, ensuring ongoing health and well-being. Recreational programs, sports activities, and weekly trips are organized to provide students with a comfortable and family-oriented environment that balances guidance, supervision, and fun.
Female Student Dormitory consists of 13 residential units: eight general buildings accommodating students from all majors, and five buildings dedicated to students in the Medical Colleges.
The Dormitory Administration is keen on providing a safe and educational environment for all residents. Building supervisors work in shifts around the clock to meet students’ needs and monitor their entry and exit to and from campus.
Policies and Procedures
The Female Student Dormitory Administration strives to host as many students as possible while providing an environment that fosters innovation and achievement.
Applying for Dorms
Students may apply for dorms after completing their admission procedures at the University, obtaining their student ID and password. Applications are submitted electronically to facilitate the process for students inside and outside the UAE.
Allocation of rooms is carried out by the dormitory Committee after confirming payment of the reservation fee. Students will receive an email at their university address specifying their accommodation details.
Opening a File
To open a dorms file, the student must be accompanied by her guardian (father) or an authorized representative holding an official document issued by the court, or by another first-degree relative. If this is not possible, the dormitory Administration will send the file by courier to the guardian’s address for completion and return, for a nominal fee.
The following required documents must be attached:
- Four personal photos
- Copy of the student’s passport
- Copy of the guardian’s ID or passport
- Copy of the Family Book (for UAE nationals)
- Copy of medical examination results
- Certificate of Good Conduct
- Copy of birth certificate
- Copy of Emirates ID
- Copy of residence permit (for non-nationals)
The dormitory staff will explain the dorms rules to the student and her guardian. The student undertakes to comply with all instructions and accept penalties in case of violations. The guardian must also provide names of authorized persons (first- and second-degree relatives) allowed to accompany the student to and from dorms, as well as specify the permits applicable (private car, public transport, trips, etc.).
