Who Are We?
The UAE Center for Space and Astronomy Education (OAE–UAE Center) is a regional center established under an agreement between the International Astronomical Union (IAU) and the Sharjah Space and Astronomy Hub (SSAH) at the University of Sharjah (UOS). It is part of the global network of the IAU Office of Astronomy for Education (OAE). The Center advances space science and astronomy education in line with best educational practices and standards. It strengthens the capabilities of schoolteachers, university faculty and postgraduate students, develops educational resources, and supports cooperation in space science and astronomy education.

The Sharjah Space and Astronomy Hub was established in 2015 to realize the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah (may God protect him), in space science and astronomy, and to keep pace with scientific and technological progress. The Hub was established within the University of Sharjah, which was founded in 1997 and has become one of the world’s leading universities through its academic expertise and research capabilities. The Hub was selected to host the Center for Space and Astronomy Education following a competitive process involving several countries in the region, thanks to its specialized facilities and equipment. These include optical and radio observatories, the Sharjah Planetarium, space, astronomy and atmospheric laboratories, and specialized training environments.
