About the Center

The International Astronomical Union Office of Astronomy for Education Center in the United Arab Emirates (IAU OAE Center UAE), located at the Sharjah Space and Astronomy Hub, has been established through a formal agreement between the International Astronomical Union (IAU) and the Sharjah Space and Astronomy Hub (SSAH) at the University of Sharjah (UOS). This center is a vital component of the global network of the International Astronomical Union Office for Astronomy Education (OAE), which is dedicated to advancing education in space science and astronomy in alignment with international best practices and educational standards.

The OAE Center UAE is committed to serving all Arabic-speaking nations, as well as neighboring regions. Its objectives include promoting excellence in space and astronomy education, enhancing the professional development of educators at both primary and tertiary levels, preparing comprehensive educational resources, and fostering international collaboration in the domain of space and astronomy education.

The international OAE network consists of six Centers located in Nanjing, China; Egypt; India; Italy; Thailand; and Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. These Centers are connected with the main OAE office situated in Heidelberg, Germany. The network also encompasses three OAE Nodes situated in France, Nepal, and the Republic of Korea, thereby enhancing international collaboration and the exchange of expertise in astronomy education.
