Sustainable Architecture and Resilient Design (SARD)

About

The Sustainable Architecture and Resilient Design Research Group (SARD-RG) is committed to advancing research and education in sustainable architecture and resilient design to benefit the UAE community and gain international recognition. The group focuses on interconnected themes, including architecture, urban development, heritage and conservation, technology, and sustainability, and responds to the UAE’s rapid urban growth through evidence-based methods, advanced tools, and empirical research. SARD-RG supports government agencies, such as urban planning councils, housing authorities, municipalities, and utility providers (e.g., SEWA and DEWA), by providing research-driven solutions and consultancy services that improve urban planning, building performance, and environmental strategies. Through interdisciplinary collaboration across digital architecture, environmental design, building technologies, and construction materials, from heritage to modern practices, the group addresses key challenges, including energy efficiency, material optimization, and sustainable development. Additionally, SARD-RG cultivates a robust research culture by producing high-quality scholarly work, partnering with leading academic and industrial organizations, and organizing professional training programs, symposia, workshops, exhibitions, and conferences to foster knowledge exchange and community impact.
