Award Description:

Aim: Recognizes pharmacists who have made significant contributions to pharmaceutical sciences, clinical research, and academia.

 

Selection Criteria:

  • Pharmacist, academic, or researcher affiliated with a UAE institution or internationally.
  • Hold a postgraduate academic qualification (Master’s degree or PhD).
  • Published research related to pharmacy practice or pharmaceutical sciences within the last 3 years.
  • Demonstrate how their work has influenced at least one of the following:
    • Clinical practice
    • Clinical guidelines or standards of care
    • Pharmacy education and training
    • Healthcare policy or decision-making
    • Patient outcomes
    • Quality improvement initiatives

 

Professor Mark Rawas Translational Research Contribution:

Prof. Mark contribution for the award competition included the research completed for the following projects:

  1. Development of a non-invasive novel dosage form for the emergency treatment of anaphylaxis as an alternative to epinephrine auto-injectors (EpiPen)
  2. Development of a user-friendly novel antidote for the treatment of organophosphates poisoning

Event:

Emirates Pharmacy Society invited scientists to apply for this award based on the above criteria.

The Award Committee screened applications and contacted the top three candidates to present their achievements on the first day of the 2nd Emirates Pharmacy Society Conference (Sep 12-13, 2026, hosted at Sofitel Dubai The Obelisk).

The Award Committee announced the winner on the second day of the conference.
