The SSCCR team participated in the UAE Universities Climate Network (UCN) meeting. It focused on coordinating university delegations for COP30 in Brazil, including the organization of joint workshops and panel sessions. The meeting provided key updates on the campus carbon neutrality initiative and the newly introduced MOCA regulation, which requires universities to report emissions by April 2026 using a Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) tool. The session also highlighted upcoming opportunities for collaboration, including an international conference on sustainable futures announced by Sherine Farouk, along with the launch of the Arab Universities Network for Climate Change under her chairmanship. Additionally, discussions led by Maya Haddad on the IUCN World Conservation Congress emphasized youth engagement and the participation of Emirati speakers. The meeting underscored the importance of cross-network collaboration to strengthen national and regional climate action initiatives.
