UAE Space Agency – National Emergency Team

An online kickoff meeting was held between the UAE Space Agency and the Sharjah Smart Center for Climate Resilience (SSCCR) to discuss key areas of collaboration and the formation of the National Emergency Team. During the session, Sultan Mohammad introduced his team and outlined the anticipated roles and support expected from each participant. He also explained the charter’s operational loop and highlighted the potential contributions from all participating teams and emphasized the importance of different groups coordination in delivering analytical disaster reports. In addition, he confirmed that participating teams will be granted access to satellite imagery platforms to support disaster monitoring and analysis.

SSCCR collaborated with the UAE Space Agency including the University of Sharjah as part of the newly formed national emergency team. Earth observation and remote sensing by satellites represent an advanced scientific and technical arena, focusing on the collection, processing, and analysis of precise data related to the Earth's surface, resources, and environment using specialized satellite systems. These systems include synthetic aperture radar (SAR) satellites, optical satellites, thermal satellites, as well as multispectral and hyperspectral satellites.

These sophisticated capabilities facilitate continuous monitoring and observation of natural phenomena and environmental changes under various weather and temporal conditions. They serve as a strategic tool for supporting sustainable development, managing natural resources, enhancing urban planning, responding to natural disasters, tracking the impacts of climate change, and applications in agriculture, water, energy, and infrastructure.
