UoS Signs a Memorandum of Understanding with Near East University in Turkey

The University of Sharjah (UoS) and Near East University in Turkey have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU), with the aim of cooperating in the academic and research fields. The MoU was signed through video conferencing technology by Prof. Maamar Bettayeb, Vice Chancellor for Research and Graduate Studies, on behalf of the university, and Prof. Tamer Sanlidag, Vice Chancellor of Near East University, in the presence of Prof. Abdelaziz Soufyane, Deputy Director of Office of International Relations at UoS.

During the signing of the memorandum, Prof. Maamar Bettayeb stressed the university’s keenness to cooperate with local institutions, and encourage applied scientific research, which is within its current strategic plan to serve and develop the local society. He also affirmed that the UoS welcomes joint scientific research with prestigious international institutes to produce high quality research.

He added that the UoS occupies a distinguished position in scientific research field, in terms of the number and quality of researches published in the international database “Scopus”, pointing that the university has the ability to work on research projects in various disciplines, due to its research infrastructure that supports scientific research. Under the MoU, the two parties will cooperate in conducting joint research activities, exchanging students, scientific resources, researchers, faculty and administrative members, offering dual academic programs, supervising postgraduate students and organizing joint international workshops, conferences, and seminars, besides cooperation in the field of consultation, training and curriculum development.
