University of Sharjah Launches Executive Leadership Diploma to Train Future National Transport Leaders

Aiming to train a new generation of national executive leaders in Sharjah’s transport sector, the University of Sharjah (UoS) has launched a professional diploma in executive leadership in partnership with the Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (RTA Sharjah). The program is offered through the University’s Center for Continuing Education and Professional Development (CCEPD) and comes as part of a strategic collaboration aimed at strengthening national talent and enhancing institutional readiness for transformation in the roads and transport sector.

The diploma was officially launched at a ceremony held at the University of Sharjah, attended by H.E. Prof. Esameldin Agamy, Chancellor of the University; Mr. Abdulaziz Mohammed Al Jarwan, Director of Transport Affairs at the Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority; Dr. Asmaa Nusairi, Director of the Center for Continuing Education and Professional Development; Mr. Sultan Obaid Al Zaabi, Director of Human Resources at RTA Sharjah; along with senior officials and faculty members.

Speaking at the launch, Prof. Agamy said the University of Sharjah plays a central role in developing human capital across public and private institutions, in line with national priorities to prepare capable leaders who can steer institutional transformation with confidence and efficiency. He noted that the University delivers advanced academic and professional programs that respond to rapid shifts in the global and local labor markets while strengthening leadership and institutional readiness. The new diploma program, he added, reflects the UoS’s strategy of reinforcing its partnerships with national entities and offering applied learning models that connect academic knowledge with real institutional needs, ultimately supporting improved government performance and more effective human capital development.

Furthermore, Prof. Agamy emphasized that the University designs its professional diploma programs according to rigorous academic and scientific standards that ensure depth, quality, and relevance. The programs strike a balance between theory and practice and rely on modern teaching approaches built around interaction, real-world case studies, and applied projects linked directly to participants’ work environments. He described the partnership with the Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority as a strong example of integration between academia and government, particularly in applied research, knowledge exchange, and the development of innovative solutions that enhance institutional performance and support the authority’s strategic vision. These efforts, he said, contribute directly to sustainable development in Sharjah, especially in the transport sector.

For his part, Mr. Yousef Al Othmani, Chairman of the Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority, said the launch of the diploma program underscores the authority’s commitment to developing national talent and building leaders capable of meeting future challenges in the transport sector with professionalism and foresight. Investing in young leadership, he said, is a cornerstone of institutional development. He also sees the program as a significant step toward equipping executive leaders with strategic thinking and effective leadership tools, strengthening institutional performance and supporting long-term sustainability in roads and transport.

Mr. Al Othmani added that the partnership with the University of Sharjah offers a compelling model for cooperation between academic institutions and government bodies. It provides an advanced learning environment that blends theory with practice and prepares qualified national cadres to lead transformation and development in line with global best practices.

The diploma program targets first- and second-line leaders and focuses on strengthening modern executive leadership skills, strategic thinking, decision-making, change management, and engagement with technological transformation. The program is designed to improve institutional efficiency and promote sustainability and will be delivered to 25 leaders from the Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority from February 4 to June 4, 2026. It includes 160 hours of training and applied learning spread across in-person training days, in addition to supervised hours dedicated to supporting participants’ final applied projects.

The curriculum covers 12 training themes, including effective leadership, strategic planning, media communication, digital transformation, team building and management, crisis and risk management, human resources, negotiation, financial analysis, innovation management, transformational leadership, and total quality management. The program adopts an integrated training methodology that combines specialized lectures, hands-on workshops, case studies, and interactive sessions, alongside applied projects that address real challenges within institutional work environments.
