University of Sharjah was ranked 109th in the Times Emerging Economies University Rankings 2021 announced on Tuesday, 9th March 2021, a staggering 33 places higher than last year's rankings.

University of Sharjah Chancellor, Prof. Hamid AL Naimiy commented that this confirms the great progress made by the University in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings, announced in February 2021, where it advanced more than 100 places (in the ranks 601-800) and ranked among the best three universities in the UAE.

The Times Higher Education Emerging Economies University Rankings assess institutions on the same thirteen global indicators. The indictors are modified to reflect the specific characteristics of universities in a group of over 50 countries considered by the Financial Times Stock Exchange as emerging economies including Brazil, China, Russia, Pakistan, Turkey, Indonesia, India, Czech Republic, Hungary, UAE, KSA, Egypt, Malaysia, South Africa etc.
