Under the Slogan “Distinguished Together” The University of Sharjah Welcomes a Number of UAE High School Principals
Under the patronage and in the presence of His Excellency Prof. Hamid M.K. Al Naimiy, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah, the Marketing and Student Recruitment Department (MSR) at the University organized a welcoming ceremony of a number of the UAE High School principals. This came with the aim of introducing them to the University of Sharjah, its academic programs at the various levels including graduate studies, and the services it offers to its students. A number of the University's Vice Chancellors, College Deans, and faculty and staff members attended the ceremony.
The University Chancellor welcomed the attendees, expressing his happiness at this annual meeting that brings together the University of Sharjah and educational institutions in the country – those institutions that he described as playing a vital role in preparing generations to join the University. He then praised this joint cooperation, which he stressed is very important in laying the basis for teaching and learning in all societies.
The Chancellor then mentioned the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council, Ruler of Sharjah, and President of the University, when he established the University of Sharjah as a national development project that aims to prepare and qualify generations able to contribute to the service of their homeland and keep pace with modern technological developments.
Prof. Al Naimiy emphasized that the University of Sharjah is now one of the largest universities in the country and in the Arab region as a whole, and it has a distinguished position on the international level. It currently offers 114 academic programs in various scientific disciplines for the various degrees it holds, and has several joint cooperation agreements with a large number of prestigious universities, institutes, and global educational organizations and works to qualify the student scientifically and practically according to the requirements and needs of labor markets with sufficient knowledge of modern technological changes.
For her part, Dr. Nadia Farahat, Director of MSR, welcomed the attendees at the University of Sharjah, confirming that the University will work to provide a set of distinguished services for outstanding students from high school graduates as well as for high schools in the country, where they can take advantage of the great potential that the University has, and provide an opportunity for distinguished students to attend a number of the activities of the University along with some lectures in the disciplines they expect to join to get a closer look at the life of the University student.
The University, she continued, organizes a number of periodic introductory meetings with College Deans to answer the students' various inquiries. Cooperation will also take place between the University and schools by providing a mobile dental clinic service to the different schools, which enables it to provide medical services and periodic check-ups to school students. The University also provides schools with the opportunity to use a number of University facilities, and provides training opportunities and workshops for school counselors.
