To Support Cooperation in Financial Services and Training: The University of Sharjah and the Securities and Commodities Authority sign a Memorandum of Understanding

The Securities and Commodities Authority and the University of Sharjah signed a memorandum of understanding. This with the aim of developing competencies in the field of Islamic finance and the financial services industry in the financial markets. As well as working on joint development plans and programs in educational programs for Islamic finance in capital markets. His Excellency Dr. Obaid Al Zaabi, CEO of the Securities and Commodities Authority (SCA), signed the MoU with His Excellency Prof. Hamid M.K. Al Naimiy, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah.

Following the signing of the memorandum, His Excellency Dr. Obaid Saif Al Zaabi expressed his pride in the pioneering role of the University of Sharjah and the distinguished academic standing it occupies among all higher education institutions locally, regionally, and internationally.

Dr. Al Zaabi noted that the MoU with the University of Sharjah establishes a framework that allows the development of competencies in the field of Islamic finance and the financial services industry in the UAE's financial markets. He added that both SCA and the University of Sharjah aim to set up joint development plans and educational programs that contribute to enhancing and developing professional standards for workers in the securities sector and developing investment awareness among dealers, investors and interested people in general.

For his part, the Chancellor of the University of Sharjah stressed that cooperation between the University and SCA, especially in the economic fields and business administration, will greatly contribute to providing many training opportunities for university students in general and the College of Business Administration in particular. He highlighted that the University is now one of the largest universities in the United Arab Emirates. This thanks to the support and guidance of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council, Ruler of Sharjah, and President of the University. It offers many diverse academic programs that are unique and distinguished and fulfill the needs for labor markets locally and regionally.

The MoU calls for cooperation in training, awareness and exchange of knowledge and experiences in the field of Islamic finance in capital markets and the financial services industry. They will also prepare curricula and educational programs for investing in Islamic financial products and tools and organize professional training programs in the field. This with the aim of developing and improving professional standards and increasing awareness of financial products traded in financial markets. As well as benefit from information and statistics, training and professional programs, activities, events, and conferences organized by the two parties.

Prof. Sherif Sedky, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, attended the MoU signing along with Dr. Salah Taher, Vice Chancellor for Community Affairs; Prof. Dima Rachid Jamali, Dean of the College of Business Administration; and Dr. Ibrahim Ali Al-Mansoori, Director of the Sharjah Center for Islamic Economy at the University of Sharjah. From SCA, Mohammad Al-Nawakhda, Head of the International Relations and Organizations Department, attended the signing along with Abdulaziz Al-Taniji, Head of the Corporate Communication and Customer Happiness Department.
