The University of Sharjah recently launched its new strategic plan for the transformation and sustainability of the University on the path of growth. Tagged the UoS SPIRIT, the plan focuses on enhancing students' learning experiences, the welfare of faculty and staff, quality research, and effective teaching using cutting-edge technology, among others. With the coronavirus affecting the society and the need to complement the government efforts in combating the virus, the University has re-envisioned its SPIRIT to raise awareness about the virus.

The University Chancellor, Prof. Hamid Al Naimiy, sees this gesture as a necessity at this challenging time where all measures and efforts must be harnessed to mitigate the impact of the virus. He thanks everyone in the University for helping in the fight against the virus, including students serving as volunteers and the staff providing essential services across the University campuses. Citing His Highness, Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council, Ruler of Sharjah, and President of the University, the Chancellor encourages the members of the University community to continue playing their parts as "the need to unite community-wide efforts to safeguard people's health" cannot be over-emphasized during this trial period.
