The University of Sharjah Received a Delegation from the Sharjah Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority

His Excellency Prof. Hamid M.K. Al Naimiy, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah, received the members of the Executive Committee for Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management in Sharjah headed by His Excellency Brigadier-General Dr. Ahmed Saeed Al Naour, Director General of Sharjah Police Central Operations Department and Chairman of the Committee. This in the presence of Dr. Amina Al-Marzouqi, Acting Dean of the College of Health Sciences and Chairman of the Precautionary and Preventive Measures Committee at the University of Sharjah, along with Dr. Asma Al-Janahi, Director of the Preventive Medicine Department in Sharjah, and Lieutenant Dr. Hamdan Rashid Al-Tunaiji, Head of the Crises and Disasters Department. During the meeting, all precautionary measures related to the COVID-19 pandemic, which are well applied in the University of Sharjah from the beginning of the crisis until today, were discussed with an emphasis on the need to continue to take all necessary measures during the next phase to ensure the general health of the University family. They also discussed establishing a laboratory for analyzing tests at the University.

The committee also visited a number of buildings and facilities at the campus of the University of Sharjah, with the aim of familiarizing themselves with the precautionary measures applied by the University during the past period, which come within the framework of the University administration's keenness to provide care and health prevention for the University's students and staff. The delegation also visited several University buildings, including the College of Fine Arts and Design building and the main building, and the Medical Colleges buildings where they were received by Prof. Qutayba Hamid Al Heialy, Vice Chancellor for Medical Colleges and Health Sciences and Dean of College of Medicine.

The delegation also visited the COVID-19 Virus Examination Center, which was established on campus in cooperation with the Sharjah Medical District and with direct support from the Preventive Medicine Department in Sharjah. Dr. Amina Al-Marzouqi gave a presentation through a short film of all precautionary and preventive measures that are currently applied at the University in implementation of the directives issued by the relevant health authorities, including supervising the implementation of quarantine procedures for returnees from abroad, stressing the need to conduct the necessary examinations for everyone before starting work, supervising the process of organizing entry and exits from University buildings and campuses, providing thermal monitoring cameras at all University entrances, posting posters and educational instructions, and providing sterilizers and personal protection tools for all.

Dr. Sanad Abdul Hamid Al-Saqqar, Director of the University Medical Clinics, gave an explanation of the different stages of the examination process by means of a nose swab (PCR test), which is performed for all University employees academic, administrative and technical staff, as well as for University students, especially those residing in the University dorms. Dr. Al-Saqqar pointed out that the entire examination process takes less than five minutes, then all examination samples are sent to the Preventive Medicine Department on the same day, and the results are sent by them via SMS text messages as well as through the AlHosn application within 48 hours of the date of the examination.
