The University of Sharjah Participates in the National Ambassadors Program (ESTEDAD)
The University of Sharjah participates in the National Ambassadors Program (ESTEDAD), which was launched by the Ministry of Education within its skill and virtual academy system for the summer of 2020, and it consists of five tracks: the scientific research track, the enrichment track, the entrepreneurship track, the diplomacy track, and the virtual summer training program. This is as part of the University's five-year strategic plan, which focuses on community service and development as one of its most important pillars, and in order to actively contribute to building the skills and capabilities of future generations, by offering a large number of academic programs to enable high school students to acquire the scientific and theoretical skills necessary for university studies.
The University of Sharjah participated in the program through the coordination of the Research Outreach Department of the Vice Chancellor's Office for Research and Graduate Studies and with the participation of 5 colleges from the University: the College of Fine Arts and Design, the College of Medicine, the College of Science, the College of Engineering, and the College of Computing and Informatics. The participation was through offering 9 academic programs, namely: Entrepreneurship and Innovation Program, Earth Sciences Program - Research Methodology in Earth and Planetary Systems, Epigenetic Science Program in Cancer Evolution, Renewable Energy and Energy Storage Systems Program, and Innovative Design Program - Generation Concepts for Production, the Clinical Cancer Research Program, the Transient Astronomy Program, the Creative Design Program for Simulating Social Needs, and the Artwork Creation Program in Various Dimensions.
The University's participation within the Ministry's initiative was supervised by Prof. Maamar Bettayeb, Vice Chancellor for Research and Graduate Studies, and Dr. Manar Abu Talib, Head of the Department of Research Outreach, and the participants from the College of Medicine were: Dr. Kholoud Bajbouj, Dr. Asima Karim, and Dr. Gibran Sawaleh Muhammad, Ms. Raki Ramakarshanan, and Ms. Iman Abdul-Razzaq. From the College of Science Dr. Daniel Moraitis, Dr. Hamdan Ali Hamdan, and Dr. Antonios Manousakis participated, and from the College of Computing and Informatics Dr. Iman Akour, Dr. Amal Al Ali, and Dr. Muhammad Bin Hawala Al-Humairi, and from the College Fine Arts and Design: Dr. Shaima Al-Bardawil, Dr. Abdel-Samad Al-Khalidi, Dr. Asim Mohamed Obeidat, Dr. Dana Amr, Mr. Thaer Hilal. Participating from the College of Engineering were Dr. Abdel-Ghani Olabi, Dr. Muhammad Ali Abdel-Karim, Dr. Muhammad Tawalbeh, Dr. Abdel-Hay Al-Alami, and Dr. Tariq Salama, and from the Sharjah Academy for Space Science and Technology and Astronomy, Noura Alameri, Mr. Muhammad Talafha, as well as the Marketing and Student Recruitment Department.
