The Department of Medical Diagnostic Imaging at the University of Sharjah Obtains British Academic Accreditation
The College of Health Sciences' Department of Medical Diagnostic Imaging at the University of Sharjah obtained academic accreditation from the British Royal College of Radiologists. This following achieving the highest comprehensive quality standards in higher education in the field of medical diagnostic imaging.
Dean of the College Dr. Amina Almarzouqi congratulated the Department of Medical Diagnostic Imaging on obtaining the academic accreditation part of the College and Department's efforts to reach the highest quality standards in the educational process and its outputs.
Almarzouqi emphasized that this achievement was possible due to the continuous support of the University's leadership shaped with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council, Ruler of Sharjah, and President of the University of Sharjah, and attention of His Excellency Prof. Hamid M.K. Al Naimiy, Chancellor of the University.
In the same context, Prof. Bashar Issa, Head of the Department of Medical Diagnostic Imaging, congratulated the students and graduates of the Department for this achievement. It places the program at the same level as programs offered in the United Kingdom. He stressed that the level of the educational process and its outputs keep pace with scientific developments locally and internationally. Obtaining British academic accreditation is the result of the efforts of faculty and administrative staff during previous years, who worked following the University's strategic plans to improve academic outcomes and ensure graduating qualified cadres to support the health sector.
It is noteworthy that the Department of Medical Diagnostic Imaging at the University of Sharjah has many strategic partnerships with international universities such as Monash University in Australia and Salford in Britain. Its membership was accepted by the European Society of Radiologists as the first university outside the European continent to be granted membership. Since the establishment of the department in 1997, about 500 professionals working in the field of medical diagnostic imaging graduated in the United Arab Emirates and abroad. The degree is also accepted by all international specialized societies such as the Canadian Association of Radiologists and American Association of Radiologists. This helped many of graduates to complete their graduate studies in many international universities in the United Kingdom, Korea, Canada, and America.
Currently, about 130 students are studying in the Medical Diagnostic Imaging Department at the University of Sharjah, and the department qualifies its students to work in many fields, including: radiology and ultrasound technologists, quality management and control, scientific research, and medical equipment companies. The Department also contributes to activities that serve society through workshops and training courses for radiologists in the UAE. The Department also organizes an annual forum that hosts many experts and specialists and discusses the latest developments and technologies in the field of diagnostic imaging. Faculty members and students also actively participate in national and international conferences, which give students a great opportunity to share their graduation research at the regional and international levels.

This achievement supports students who have a bachelor's degree in medical diagnostic imaging and will be a positive addition to their scientific and practical work.
