The University of Sharjah participated in "The 6th International (Virtual) Workshop on UI GreenMetric World University Rankings (IWGM 2020)", which discussed over four days the extent of universities' responsibility for sustainable development goals and the complex challenges in the world. This with the aim of creating a platform for information exchange and cooperation in the field of sustainability and discussing plans for cooperation within the UI GreenMetric network. Universities officials attended the workshop along with environmental experts, sustainability directors, and academics interested in the field of sustainability.

During the workshop, Dr. Mohsin Siddique, Assistant Professor at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the College of Engineering, gave a presentation on the excellence of the University of Sharjah in the field of water management, and Prof. Imad Alsyouf, Director of the Sustainability Office, chaired one of the discussion sessions, which focused on innovations in the field of energy management and climate change in universities.
