Selecting the Winners of the Sharjah Innovation Award at the University of Sharjah Results to be Announced during the Closing Session of the International Forum on Innovation and Entrepreneurship Next Week
Members of the arbitration committees of the Sharjah Chamber Award for Innovators, organized by the University of Sharjah in cooperation with the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, met in their fourth session, within the activities of the Fifth International Forum on Innovation and Entrepreneurship. This to evaluate and study the works involved in the competition for this year as it is expected to announce the final results and names of the winners during the activities of the closing day of the Forum, which will be held at the University of Sharjah on Sunday February 9th, 2020. The meeting was In the presence of Prof. Philip Molyneux, Dean of the College of Business Administration, along with Prof. Mohammad S. Obaidat, Dean of the College of Computing and Informatics; Dr. Amal Al Ali, Chairman of the Award's Organizing Committee; Dr. Samar Mouakket, Member of the Organizing Committee; and a number of faculty and staff members as well as members of the jury for the competition.
129 different projects were submitted for the competition including innovative and research projects, presented by a large number of university students from different emirates and students of private schools in the Emirate of Sharjah. The ideas and topics presented for the competition varied between applications of artificial intelligence in the service of mankind, the creation of smart glasses that use electrical energy to work with the human thinking process, smart applications to work to help those with disabilities, the creation of a software for electronic games, the use of solar energy, and the generation of electrical energy from biodegradable materials., as well as other distinguished topics that have been commended by the various arbitration committees.
The arbitration committees included a number of specialists, experts and faculty members in various fields, including from the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry Prof. Raghda Tarim, Member of the Board of Directors; Prof. Sarah Al Madani, Member of the Board of Directors; Prof. Mona Al Suwaidi. From the Department of Economic Development Counselor Dr. Omar Saleh; Counselor Kazem Al-Shaghana; and Prof. Haya Al Khayya. Along with Prof. Mona Al Ghawi from Sharjah Media City (Shams); Mr. Mortada Al-Zayla'i from the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority; Prof. Maha Al-Suwaidi and Prof. Hessa Al-Tamimi from the General Command of the Sharjah Police.
The committee also includes a number of the University of Sharjah faculty members including, Dr. Mohammed Latayfeh, Dr. Mohammad Al-hawari, Dr. Narjes Haj Salem, Dr. Shaker Bani Melhem, Dr. Abu Elias Sarker, Dr. Saadat Al Hashemi, and Dr. Ibrahim Al Otaibi. It is worth noting that a new category has been added to the competition for this year, which is the research category, judged by a number of faculty members at the College of Computing and Informatics, who are Dr. Mohamed Nour, Dr. Ali Al-Mursi, Dr. Ahmed Khader, and Dr. Panagiotis Zervopoulos.
