In Cooperation with the Supreme Council for Family Affairs and the Sharjah Private Education Authority … Hosting Academics and Experts from Several Arab Countries …The University of Sharjah’s Al Dhaid Branch Organizes the First Social Sciences Forum
Under the patronage of His Excellency Prof. Hamid M.K. Al Naimiy, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah, and in the presence of Her Excellency Dr. Khawla Abdul Rahman Al Mulla, Secretary General of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah. Prof. Adnan Ibrahim Sirhan, Assistant Chancellor of Branch Affairs, launched the First Social Sciences Forum under the title "Bullying in Schools: Factors and Effects … Methods for Confrontation" with the participation of Prof. Hussein Mohammad Al Othman, Dean of the College of Arts, Humanities & Social Science.
The University of Sharjah Al Dhaid branch organized this Forum in cooperation with the Supreme Council for Family Affairs and the Sharjah Private Education Authorty. Dr. Saleh Muhammad Zeki, Vice Assistant Chancellor of Branches Affairs, moderated the Forum's sessions. It presented a set of scientific papers by several faculty members at the University of Sharjah, specialists, and researchers from Umm Al-Qura and Al-Ain universities, the University of Djelfa, and the University of Jordan.
The importance of this Forum comes in light of the growing social awareness of the seriousness of school bullying, the need for effective intervention to ensure a safe and positive school environment, implementing effective systems for reporting and monitoring bullying practices, and preparing training and counseling programs to support the efforts of educational supervisors, teachers, parents and affected students. The Forum also coincided with the National Week launched by the Ministry of Education for the prevention of bullying in the school environment, and the celebration of the International Children's Day that is held on the twentieth of November of each year.
Prof. Adnan Sirhan began the Forum by welcoming the attendees and participants, praising the efforts made by the University of Sharjah branch in Al Dhaid in spreading culture and community service. He noted the importance of the Forum's topic, which discusses a dangerous global phenomenon whose repercussions extend to students, the school environment, the family, and society.
After that, Her Excellency Dr. Khawla Abdul Rahman Al-Mulla delivered a speech in which she emphasized the importance of this event, which has become a disturbing behavior in all parts of the world. She advocated the need for concerted efforts of all entities to eliminate this phenomenon and work to devote and strengthen an educational system for students in various public and private school to enable the continuance of the educational journey without any obstacles. Her Excellency expressed her gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, and Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, President of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah, for their great efforts to create an ideal educational environment for students free from any phenomena that may negatively affect their educational path.
During her speech, Dr. Al-Mulla noted that bullying comes in multiple forms and all of them lead to negative effects that remain with the victims of this unhealthy behavior long-term. Therefore, the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah is keen through the departments operating under its umbrella to annually launch a series of effective programs and initiatives in this regard,
