During the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia’s Visit to the UoS: Exploring Opportunities for Cooperation in the Medical, Health Sciences, and Nursing Fields

His Excellency Prof. Hamid M.K. Al Naimiy, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah, received His Excellency Husin Bagis Baqees, Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the UAE and his accompanying delegation during their visit to the University of Sharjah. Several Vice Chancellors, the Director of the University's International Cooperation Office, and faculty members attended the meeting. The purpose of the visit was to discuss opportunities for scientific and academic cooperation with several universities and academic institutions in the Republic of Indonesia, especially Binawan University specialized in the fields of medical, health and nursing sciences. As well as exchange of students to complete practical training in those fields at the University of Sharjah. At the beginning of the meeting, the Chancellor welcomed the His Excellency the Ambassador stressing that the University of Sharjah has many cooperation agreements with several advanced scientific and academic institutions. The University of Sharjah, he added, is now one of the largest universities not only in the United Arab Emirates but in the region. It has a medical and health sciences campus, which is one of the best integrated complexes. It is also home to many academic disciplines, institutes, and specialized research centers.

For his part, the Ambassador praised the University of Sharjah and the scientific and academic position it occupies, as he gave an introductory briefing of the various universities in the Republic of Indonesia. He assured the existence of many opportunities for cooperation in education and training and the exchange of experiences in the field of nursing, especially at Binawan University. Prof. Maamar Bettayeb, Vice Chancellor for Research and Graduate Studies, introduced the distinguished research institutes and centers at the University of Sharjah in the fields of medicine and health sciences through the Research Institute for Medicine and Health Sciences and its researchers.

Prof. Qutayba Hamid, Vice Chancellor for Medical Colleges and Health Sciences and Dean of College of Medicine, introduced the medical and health sciences programs at the University of Sharjah, the capabilities of the University's medical campus, the number of graduates and students in it, and the academic and scientific experiences of the faculty members. He indicated that the field of nursing is one of the important programs in the College of Health sciences and plays a great role in meeting the needs of the local and regional labor market. He stressed the full readiness of the University of Sharjah and its medical campus to help and train Indonesian nurses and qualify them scientifically and practically to obtain a certificate to practice the profession in the United Arab Emirates.
