Continuing in its Distinguished International Rankings: Thirty of the University of Sharjah’s Faculty Members Featured Among the World Top Scientists List

Stanford University recently released its World Top 2% Scientists List, among which were thirty (30) of the University of Sharjah's faculty members based on research with the highest references and citations for 2019.

His Excellency Prof. Hamid M.K. Al Naimiy, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah, announced this adding that three of those scientists were classified among the top 100 scientists list for their scientific and academic experiences. He added that nine of them were also selected among the list of the most influential for their scientific expertise in their field of specialization. It is worth noting that a number of these scholars joined the University of Sharjah recently; the selection process within this classification is based on the researcher's overall scientific and research production.

The University Chancellor also affirmed that this achievement comes as a continuation of the University's progress at the international level during this year. This is with the support, directives, and in fulfillment of the vision of its President His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah. According to the latest results by the Times World Rankings of Higher Education for the year 2020, the University advanced to the rank: (658) globally - achieving progress by more than 100 ranks in the category (601-800) category. It also ranked the first at the level of UAE universities in computer sciences, second in engineering and medicine, and first for the fourth consecutive year in sustainability programs.

The results also confirm that the University of Sharjah is working according to its five-year strategic plan to attract scientists and researchers with academic and scientific expertise and who are known for their research competence in their field of specialization. It also consolidates its position among the top universities in the UAE.

Among those who came within this classification from the College of Engineering: Prof. Maamar Bettayeb, Vice Chancellor for Research and Graduate Studies; Prof. Mohamed Maalij, Vice Dean of the College; Prof. Abdelghani Olabi, Head of the Sustainable and Renewable Energy Department; Prof. Khalil Abdul Razzaq, Assistant Dean of the College for Graduate studies; and Prof. Ahmed El-Wakeel, Prof. Moataz Ali, Prof. Ramesh Bensal, Prof. Luai Taher, Dr. Shawqi Ghenai, Dr. Dhafer Sayed, Dr. Anwar Hassan Grandel, and Dr. Ismail Shaheen.

From the College of Medicine: Prof. Qutayba Hamid, Vice Chancellor for Medical Colleges and Health Sciences and Dean of College of Medicine, Prof. Salman Youssef, Vice Dean of the College, Prof. Azzam Magazji, Assistant Dean of the College for Graduate Studies, and Dr. Zahid Hussein.

From the College of Sciences: Prof. Ali Al-Qeblawi, Prof. Ayman Al-Hattab, Prof. Hichem Eleuch, Prof. Salim Masoudi, Dr. Ahmed Ali Mohamed, and dr. Mohamed Islam Mustafa
