Arab Forum of Science Media and Communication Returns for its Fourth Edition
The Arab Forum of Science Media and Communication (AFSMC) returns with its fourth annual gathering from February 5 to 6, 2024.The AFSMC, which serves as a platform for those involved in media and science communication within the Arab region, is scheduled as a hybrid edition at the University of Sharjah and in partnership with the British Council and many esteemed partners, under the theme “From Research to Engagement: Advancing Communication”.The College of Communication at the University of Sharjah will host a vibrant community of academics, journalists, researchers, science communicators, and science enthusiasts on February 5th to foster a dynamic conversation around research and its outreach.The forum seeks to break the barriers between researchers and communicators, equipping both with the tools and techniques to effectively communicate their outcomes to a broader audience.
Saad Lotfey, CEO of SciComm X and the Co-founder of the AFSMC states, “The forum aims to bridge the gap and reach a common perspective between the Academic and Research Community and the Science Communicator and Public Engagement Community in the Arab Region.”Attendees will explore innovative strategies to increase the outreach of research findings through a diverse selection of panels, workshops, and interactive sessions.“The theme resonates with a crucial need in the Arab world. Despite significant advancements in scientific research, the region often struggles to translate those discoveries into tangible benefits and higher awareness for the public.” Explains Mohamed Elsonpaty Ramadan, The Co-founder of the AFSMC and the vice president of PCST.
Attendees can expect Interactive workshops that will guide them through the art of science communication and panel discussions that will delve into the key aspects of sharing scientific knowledge.The forum also highlights the crucial role of media in bridging the science-society divide. About the Arab Forum of Science Media and Communication
The Arab Forum of Science Media and Communication is the first event of its kind to be held in the Arab region gathering those who are interested in the fields of media and scientific communication in the Arab region.The annual Forum aims to bring together science journalists, science communicators, researchers and scientists to exchange ideas and thoughts and empower the science communication industry in MENA. Also we are gathering government, private sector and non-governmental organizations dedicated to media and science communication, as well as university students studying media, journalism, and science.The fourth annual Arab Forum of Science Media and Communication is set to take place in collaboration with the University of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates, from February 5th to 6th, 2024.
