Aiming to exchange academic experiences University of Sharjah Signs MoU with Southwest University of Political Science and Law
The University of Sharjah (UoS) is keen to enhance its global position and exchange research and scientific experiences with experts and specialists through various agreements, international cooperation and memorandums of understanding which are signed with international universities and academic institutions from all around the world. In this context, the UoS signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Southwest University of Political Science and Law (SWUPL), during a video conference.The MoU was signed on behalf of UoS by its Chancellor, His Excellency Prof. Hamid M.K. Al Naimiy, and Prof. Adnan Sarhan, Dean of the College of Law, and on behalf of SWUPL by its President, Prof. Fu Zitang, and Prof. Zhang Xiaojun, Dean of the School of International Law at SWUPL, and Prof. Asad Khalil from Sino-Arab Legal Research Center.
The MoU covers a wide and important areas, including student and faculty exchange programs, joint research projects, the sharing of academic resources, experiences, and participation in seminars, initiatives and scientific conferences organized by both universities. In addition to collaboration in teaching Arabic language. This collaboration is expected to have a significant impact on education in both countries, as it will provide opportunities for students and faculty members to learn from each other's experiences and perspectives.
Prof. Hamid M.K. Al Naimiy, Chancellor of UoS, warmly welcomed this joint cooperation with SWUPL as one of the best law universities in the region. Al Naimiy conveyed the greetings of His Highness, Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, and President of the University of Sharjah indicating that UoS has strong and active cooperation relations with many Chinese universities especially in the areas of Arabic language and culture.Al Naimiy added that over the past few years, the UoS hosted Chinese students, and through the collaboration with SWUPL, a new dimension of law will be added. He also delivered a brief introduction about the academic programs offered by UoS, research plans, and rankings at the local, regional and international levels.Prof. Youssef Al Haik, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, emphasized that the MoU covers various areas of collaboration which will play an important role in promoting innovation and fostering economic growth.Dr. Tarek Merabtene, Director of the Office of International Relations, highlighted that this MoU aims to strengthen the bonds between the two institutions to further the academic, social and cultural cooperation, promote better understanding between the faculty, staff, and students of both institutions and open a window of growth opportunities for the students, by allowing them to explore beyond boundaries.
For his part, Prof. Fu Zitang, President of SWUPL, welcomed the cooperation with University of Sharjah, as one of the largest universities in the Arab Region, highlighting the importance of this collaboration since it enhances the academic and cultural cooperation between China and the Arab world. Prof. Fu Zitang also delivered a brief introduction about SWUPL, its programs, number of students enrolled, and SWUPL role in serving the local society.The signing ceremony was attended by Prof. Youssef Al Haik, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Prof. Nader El-Bizri, Dean of the College of Arts, Humanities & Social Science and Dr. Tarek Merabtene, Director of the Office of International Relations. In addition to attendees from SWUPL including Prof. Zhang Jianwen, Director of the Office of International Relations and Dr. He Qin.
