Since it was inaugurated by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council, Ruler of Sharjah and President of the University of Sharjah, on May 29, 2010, the Sharjah Clinical and Surgical Training Center at the University of Sharjah has been working to enhance the practical application of innovative clinical theories, skills and knowledge to train doctors and nurses at the hands of internationally specialized and highly experienced faculty. It aims to enable surgeons to maintain the highest standards of surgical practices and patient care by providing extensive, high-quality expertise.

The Center also achieved international accreditation by the Royal College of Surgeons in England, was fully accredited by the American Association for Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care (AAALAC), and was accredited by the American Heart Association. The Center focused on providing a common place where healthcare professionals can develop their knowledge and expertise using the latest technologies, promoting development and expanding the network of healthcare professionals in education, research, development and clinical investigation to provide more effective patient care and a level of patient safety worldwide.

To celebrate ten years of success and accomplishments, the Sharjah Clinical and Surgical Training Center has achieved many partnerships and cooperation, hosting since its establishment 1,666 clinical and surgical courses for more than 25,674 doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals, and the Center has leading industry partners locally and internationally in the United Arab Emirates, the United States, the GCC, the Middle East, India and Pakistan, as well as from African and European countries.

On this occasion, Prof. Qutayba Hamid Al Heialy, Vice Chancellor for Medical Colleges and Health Sciences and Dean of College of Medicine and Chairman of the Sharjah Clinical and Surgical Training Center, stated that the Center brought together international and local professors and partners from all over the world to train and develop healthcare professionals by presenting a wide range of development programs specifically designed for the latest surgical practices and other clinical techniques in order to ensure proper adoption with optimal levels of healthcare practices in the Middle East. Celebrating the tenth anniversary is a significant milestone for the Center, and for University of Sharjah's overall vision of being among the leading institutions in the Arab World and in the region. The Center's state-of-the-art facilities with the simulated stations, its animal and cadaver wet labs, dry labs and classrooms contribute to the training of health care professionals as well as enhancing and ensuring the appropriate facilitation of the programs.

For his part, Director of Sharjah Clinical and Surgical Training Center Prof. Nabil Sulaiman mentioned added that since its inception, the Center has always aimed to develop surgical and medical professional education through upskilling health professionals to improve their clinical competence and patient care leading to better patient safety. The Sharjah Clinical and Surgical Training Center is one of the first training centers of its kind in the region; it is a well-established international franchise center that provides global training in advanced surgical and ultrasound techniques, life support and laser training, using advanced simulations including animal models and cadaveric organs as well as real patients for ultrasound and laser training.

As the Center enters a new decade, it will continue to be committed to providing the best education standards and training courses with an emphasis on exceptionally creative education through quality and innovation and the enhancement of the intellectual and technological environment. The Center also takes into account all the precautionary procedures and system regulations used in the University related to COVID-19, and is keen to provide e-learning opportunities for the participants by offering online courses or mixed learning with virtual hands at the Center (such as AHA courses, aesthetic medicine and ultrasound courses, as well as acoustic training sessions on Da Vinci surgical robotic system in the near future) and practical training with the introduction of preventive policies and procedures using the capacity of 30% of individuals.
