According to the Latest World University Rankings The University of Sharjah Rises Regionally and Internationally

The results of the recently announced World University Rankings showed that the University of Sharjah continues to progress at the national, regional, and global levels and occupies its distinguished position among the advanced Arab and regional universities. Prof. Hamid M.K. Al Naimiy, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah, stated the results of these rankings and expressed highest congratulations to His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council, Ruler of Sharjah, and President of the University, on this important achievement. This ranking embodies the care, support and direct vision of His Highness since he established the University in 1997, to have a prominent international position academically, scientifically and methodically, and during its lifetime, the University of Sharjah was able to take steady steps towards consolidating its advanced position among international universities.

The Chancellor of the University added that the results of the Times World Ranking for the year 2020 showed the joining of the University of Sharjah for the first time since its establishment among the top 200 universities in Asia, ranking 169th in this classification. It is ranked eleventh among the universities of the Gulf countries and the Middle East. In addition, the University of Sharjah has been ranked first for the second year in a row at the UAE level, and 301-350 internationally within the framework of the universities global sustainable impact. With this achievement, the University of Sharjah advances to the eight rank among universities in the Arab world. Thus, the University of Sharjah's accomplishments have been strengthened due to its first ranking at the level of the United Arab Emirates for the third year in a row since its participation in the UI GreenMetric Global Sustainability Ranking. The University of Sharjah continues to progress at a steady pace in improving its global position within the scientific QS World University Rankings, as it rose in the latest rankings issued in the current month of June to the 601-650 globally.

The University Chancellor also stressed that these indicators confirm the top position of the University of Sharjah among the universities of the United Arab Emirates with its advanced academic programs, which reached 108 accredited programs this year: 55 of which are at the bachelor's level, 15 PhDs, 36 masters, 2 Postgraduate diplomas. The programs include a variety of scientific, engineering, medical, social, and human sciences majors. The number of students, he added, in various programs is more than 15 thousand male and female students, including more than 2,200 male and female students in PhD and masters programs, and the number of graduates exceeds 30 thousand male and female graduates.

At the level of scientific research, the University of Sharjah has a distinct research base from institutes and research centers in various sciences, medical, engineering and humanitarian disciplines, with a large number of distinguished experts and researchers working at the international level.

Dr. Tarek Merabtene, Director of the Office of International Relations at the University of Sharjah, explained that the increase in the number of international scientific research papers published within the SCOPUS database, and the increase in the number of international citations for these research papers recorded internationally is a clear indicator of the quality of research published by the University. This in addition to the increase in the percentage of degree programs and graduate programs, which had the greatest impact on the sustainable progress of the University towards the first places nationally, regionally, and internationally.

Dr. Imad Alsyouf, Director of the Sustainability Office at the University of Sharjah, stressed that the progress of the University of Sharjah classification according to the United Nations standards for sustainability comes in support of what the University of Sharjah has achieved, as the University of Sharjah has also occupied the first position at the level of the United Arab Emirates for the third year in a row since its participation in this standard, and strengthened its progress in the UI GreenMetric rankings, which ranks universities worldwide in sustainable development areas and their commitment to clean environmental standards.
