The University of Sharjah has participated in the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings (UIGWUR) consecutively for the six years from 2017 to 2023 and maintained the first place in UAE for the seventh year in a row.

The Green Metric World University Ranking aims to evaluate and rank universities all over the world according to their current condition and policies related to green campus and sustainability activities. It measures sustainability in six aspects which are setting and infrastructure, energy and climate change, transportation, waste, water and education.

Over those six years, a tremendous improvement was shown through the world ranking.

In 2023, UOS developed its performance to be globally ranked within the first 100 universities. And within the first hundred universities in the Setting and Infrastructure, Water, Waste, and Education categories.
