Distinguished Employee Award 8th Edition

The workforce of any organization is its most crucial resource and a fundamental element in its success. Investing in this human capital benefits both the organization and its employees and ultimately leads to the achievement of their goals. Therefore, it is essential to provide employees with opportunities for growth and professional development in order to increase their job satisfaction and ability to create and excel. The Outstanding Employee Award is part of the University of Sharjah's efforts to recognize the exceptional work of its employees. Nominees for the award should meet the following criteria:

  • Is a person of outstanding character
  • Is creative and innovative
  • Has the relevant qualifications and practical experience to perform his/her work duties
  • Has a clear vision of his future work plans
  • Makes optimum use of available resources
  • Strives to provide clients with the best service
  • Endeavors to promote the University and protect its reputation
  • Demonstrates a strong work ethic and a high level of professionalism

Objectives

The main objectives of conferring this award are to:

  • Promote excellence and quality service in all administrative departments
  • Recognize and motivate outstanding employees
  • Identify the expected skills, capabilities, and performance levels of the workforce in order to better fulfill the University's vision, mission, and strategic objectives, and develop more effective plans for attracting and retaining highly-skilled employees
  • Ensure that the personal objectives of the employee are compatible with those of his work unit and the University as a whole, and enable our workforce to fulfill their potential in a cooperative environment
  • Enhance the skills and capabilities of the employees in order to reinforce their loyalty to the University
  • Encourage the employees to represent and promote the University within the local community
  • Motivate employees to innovate and actively participate in the University's continuous efforts to improve its services.

Terms and Conditions for Candidacy

  1. The candidate must hold a job title that is compatible with the category he/she was nominated for.
  2. The candidate must have a minimum of 'Very Good' in their annual performance evaluation for the last two years.
  3. An internal committee shall review the candidates' nomination forms for the different categories of the award. Candidates who fail to meet the terms will be excluded and thus will not be evaluated by the external committee.
  4. In the case of a change in the job title of the candidate after nomination (for any of the categories), the candidate's nomination can still proceed.
  5. The evaluation committee reserves the right to reject the nomination of any candidate who fails to meet the selection criteria as specified, at any stage of the evaluation process.
  6. The candidates shall fill in the on-line nomination form, posted on the University website.
  7. The candidate should be a full-time employee at the University of Sharjah, or any of its other branches.
  8. The candidate's attached documents should not exceed the limit of ten pages, with no more than ten lines for each component of the award application.
  9. Candidates may nominate themselves for the award each year.
  10. Winning candidates cannot apply for the award in the next consecutive year.
  11. The candidates for the award in its eighth Round in all the categories can use the documented evidence until the beginning of January 2021.
  12. The deadline for receiving the nominations is 31 May 2023.
  13. The evaluation and interviews will be carried out by the appointed committee during June and July 2023.
  14. Announcement of the winners and the award ceremony are to be held in September 2023.
