Understanding Fear of Missing Out (FOMO) Phenomenon in Academia: Impact of Digitalization and Social Media on Wellbeing
A mixed-method study of 331 faculty members revealed that 73.7% frequently experienced FOMO-related anxiety, contributing to burnout symptoms such as emotional exhaustion and depersonalization. The findings highlight the impact of digitalization on faculty well-being and recommend institutional strategies for digital well-being and healthier work-life balance.
