CFAD Partners with the National MS Society
CFAD partnered with the National Multiple Sclerosis Society (NMSS) to deliver an “Empathy Workshop” part of their Universal Design for Inclusion Program. NMSS’s Program “aims to raise awareness among university youth about Cognitive, Mobility and Communication challenges people of determination face in their day-to-day lives.” The Program invited university students across the UAE “to leverage their creativity and technical skills to design an assistive technology that enhances accessibility, improves daily living and fosters greater independence.” Winners of the on-going competition shall be announced in each category (Mobility, Communication, and Cognitive) later. “Sustainable Interior Environments” students led by Dr. Iman Ibrahim (Associate Professor in Interior Design) and “Interaction Design I” students led by Ms. Madiha Jamil (Lecturer in Visual Communication) are joining efforts to propose solutions. Program Manager Lina Juma noted that the NMSS team was “thrilled with how engaged and visibly impacted the students were by the activities”. The workshop was part of CFAD’s continued efforts to ensure that universal design is fully integrated in all design projects.
