ATypI 2026 Sharjah

The University of Sharjah is proud to announce that it will host ATypI 2026 Sharjah from October 28-31, 2026, marking a historic milestone in the Association Typographique Internationale’s rich legacy as the world’s leading platform for global typographic exchange since 1957. For the first time in its nearly seven-decade history, ATypI will be presented as a dual conference, with one edition at Stanford University in May 2026 and the other at the University of Sharjah in October 2026.

Bringing this prestigious international gathering to the Middle East for the first time underscores Sharjah’s growing role as a hub of art, design, and culture, while highlighting the University’s leadership in advancing education and research in visual communication and design. ATypI conferences are distinguished by the strength of their audience: leaders from global industries, such as Adobe, Google, Morisawa, Font Bureau, and many more type foundries and studios, participate alongside independent designers, academics, and students. With more than 300 participants expected, ATypI 2026 Sharjah will be a vital meeting ground where industry and education intersect, enabling collaboration, sparking innovation, and shaping the future of typographic practice.

As a UNESCO-designated Cultural Capital, Sharjah provides the ideal setting for ATypI’s mission to bridge heritage and modernity—positioning the University of Sharjah at the forefront of this global dialogue between design, education, and industry.
