2024 Arab Student StarPack Competition
Visual Communication students collect three wins at the 2024 Arab StarPack competition representing their country, the United Arab Emirates. Two wins were secured in the structural category through projects supervised by Nada Abdallah (Assistant Professor of Visual Communication) in her course “Branding and Identity Design.” First place went to Fatima Aljasmi for “Zahra”, a homemade spice brand preserving Emirati culture through distinctive taste concepts and packaging. Second place went to Shamma Alhammadi for “Khazaf”, a unique pottery package bag inspired by organza fabric — a nod to the days when people carried a piece of heritage in a sturdy, reliable bag. An additional win was secured in the visual category with a project supervised by Dr. Hala Georges (Assistant Professor of Visual Communication) in her course “Visual Communication Studio IV”. First place went again to Fatima Aljasmi for “La Tgool”, a concept card game in which she adapted the classic game Don't Say—by incorporating Sharjah’s iconic landmarks while enhancing players’ communication skills and deepening their appreciation for Sharjah’s rich heritage in a fun and interactive way. Congratulations to the winners and their instructors!
