Waste 2 Wealth Collaboration

CFAD continues to expand on its interdisciplinary initiatives with UoS faculty and seek new external partnerships. The interdisciplinary elective course "Special Topics for Interdisciplinary Practices" showcases regenerative design, circular economy, and sustainable practices in art and design. Interior Design student teams under the supervision of Dr. Iman Ibrahim, the Visual Communication Students team under the supervision of Ms. Madiha Jamil, and Business Green-marketing students under the supervision of Dr. Narjes Haj collaborated to upcycle local waste into market-ready products. The aim was to create unique brands that integrate sustainable design and marketing strategies. Multi-disciplinary external jurors reviewed the final outcomes including Khalid Al Shafar (Design Studio Founder & Creative Director), Neda Salmanpour (Architect), Sahil Abdul Latheef (Curatorial Coordinator at Sharjah Architectural Triennale) and Emile Moughayar (Entrepreneurship and Innovation Youth Manager at Sheraa). The rewarding experience was a unique opportunity for the student teams involved to prepare for real life multidisciplinary teamwork. Special appreciation to Sheraa for hosting the final jury at their UoS Hub!
