CFAD Showcases Multiple Innovative Projects at Sharjah Innovation Activities
CFAD joined other University of Sharjah teams from across campus to share their research outcomes at “UAE Innovates 2025”. The 10th Annual Session was held at the Sharjah Research, Technology, and Innovation Park and included numerous Government Departments showcases their latest innovative projects.
CFAD’s six projects were completed under the supervision of Dr. Iman Ibrahim (Associate Professor of Interior Design) in collaboration with the Architecture Triennale and Sheraa. The Interior Design Team was further supported by Visual Communication students led by Madiha Jamil (Lecturer in Visual Communication) and Business students supervised by Dr. Narjes Haj Salem (Associate Professor of Business).
“BAYT” (by Leen Chehade and Mahra Alnuaimi) follows the “Cycle of Comfort” concept which transforms discarded hotel linen into products such as bags, pouches, and wallets. “GHAZAL” (by Lamya Alsuwaidi and Aljaze Alkarbi) turns discarded rugs into timeless pieces that merge eco-consciousness with artistic expression.
“VERA WALL” (by Ula Albasheer and Ghusoun Alqurashi) transforms eucalyptus waste into functional, biodegradable panels, reducing environmental impact while contributing to a sustainable future. “SHADE CRAFT” (by Abeer Mostafa and Asiya Ameen) embraces regenerative and circular economy principles by transforming palm waste into biodegradable windshield shades. “JUTHOOR” (by Batoul Alkhodari and Dana Al Qarout) integrates the ancient and the modern by drawing from local materials—coffee grounds and date seeds— to create aesthetically captivating yet eco-conscious disposable coffee cups.
Finally, “ECOLIFT” (by Yousef Abdulrahman and Khalifa Alqenaei) repurposes car upholstery waste into fitness products (dumbbells), promoting innovation, partnerships, and sustainable solutions. All projects included prototypes and promotional videos that facilitated sharing their projects’ concepts and outcomes with visitors.
