Bayti at Arada-Nest

Arada team welcomed CFAD’s interior design sophomore students for a Spring 2025 exhibit at Nest’s multipurpose room. The exhibition “Bayti-My Home” showcased select design projects focused on residential design, with an emphasis on universal design principles. Each project explored the design of a student accommodation unit at NEST, by Arada. Students were tasked with interviewing a potential client, a student enrolled in one of the following programs: Medical Sciences, Fashion Design, Business, or Engineering. Each student was assigned a specific program and worked closely with their client to understand their needs, lifestyle, and requirements. The challenge was to design a small yet functional space, incorporating areas for sleeping, resting and study/work, a kitchenette and bathroom, all while keeping universal design at the forefront. Design and Interior Construction faculty collaborated to bring students’ concepts to life, encouraging them to explore their design ideas in greater detail and produce a comprehensive final project. Exhibit curator Ms. Georgina Abood, Dr. Abdul Samad Alkhalidi. Ms. Asil Albaghdadi, and Mr. Akrami Azmy were the faculty team behind the success of the Bayti project. Special recognition to the Arada team for sharing their expertise with students and hosting the exhibit. This collaboration between academia and industry has been a vital source of inspiration and support as students begin experiencing aspects of the future careers early in their studies through direct interactions with the professionals.
