Educational Visit for Female Students the Womens Museum in Dubai
As part of efforts to enhance the integration between theoretical and practical learning, and in line with initiatives aimed at supporting purposeful student activities, Dr. Rola Mia from the Department of Sociology at the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences at the University of Sharjah organized an educational field visit to the "Women's Museum" in the Emirate of Dubai. The visit was conducted in collaboration with the Student Activities Department at the Deanship of Student Affairs on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 1:30 PM.
This visit included a group of female students enrolled in the "Women and Development" course, aligning with the course’s objectives and learning outcomes, and aimed at enhancing students’ awareness of the role of Emirati women in the national development journey.
The visit featured a comprehensive tour showcasing the most significant achievements of women in the United Arab Emirates across various fields, including literature, politics, media, economy, education, medicine, nursing, and volunteer work. The students also learned about pioneering female figures who contributed to the progress, development, and prosperity of the UAE.
Dr. Rafia Ghubash, the founder of the museum, delivered a valuable documentary presentation highlighting the history of Emirati women, their most notable accomplishments, and their contributions to national heritage through an exploration of customs, traditions, and daily culture. She emphasized the enduring role of women throughout history in building society and participating in development.
At the conclusion of the visit, a series of commemorative photos were taken to document this enriching educational experience, which left a positive impact on the students and deepened their understanding of the role of women in the social and cultural development of the UAE.
