An anthropological trip to “Sharjah Fort”
In conjunction with World Heritage Week, the Supervisory Committee of the Student Scientific Society organized an anthropological trip to “Sharjah Fort,” one of the most important heritage and tourist attractions in the Emirate of Sharjah, with the participation of faculty members, led by Dr. Ayat Nashwan, Head of the Sociology Department, Dr. Noura Al-Karbi, Chair of the Supervisory Committee of the Student Society, and Dr. Omaima Bu Al-Khair, Dr. Rula Maya, and a number of (8) female students from the Sociology Society, were received by the Sharjah Fort administration on Saturday morning and provided a comprehensive explanation of the fort and its history. This educational trip to Sharjah Fort contributed to enhancing the students’ awareness of the history of the building in the Emirate of Sharjah, the ruling family, governance matters, defense methods, and the nature of daily life in the Emirate of Sharjah two hundred years ago. The participating students expressed their happiness at visiting this historical landmark that tells the history of the Emirate of Sharjah. They also praised the committee’s efforts in organizing such trips to archaeological places and sites in the country that contribute to enhancing knowledge of the cultural heritage, historical depth, and social level in the lives of those who inhabited this region.
