Master thesis entitled: The United Arab Emirates– Kuwaiti Social, Cultural, and Economic Relations 1990-2004 in Light of the Gulf Cooperation Council Documents

This study examines the relations between the United Arab Emirates and the State of Kuwait during the period 1990–2004 through an analysis of the documents of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), which constitute a key primary source for understanding the evolution of bilateral relations within the broader framework of Gulf cooperation. The study explores the various dimensions of cooperation between the two countries, investigates the factors that contributed to its development, and assesses the role of GCC resolutions and agreements in shaping, regulating, and strengthening bilateral ties.

The findings indicate that UAE–Kuwait relations were marked by both stability and diversity throughout the study period, benefiting significantly from the institutional mechanisms established by the GCC. This institutional support facilitated the steady expansion of cooperation across social, cultural, and economic sectors. The study further demonstrates that joint Gulf initiatives played a vital role in enhancing cooperation, particularly in the areas of trade, energy, education, and culture, thereby reinforcing the broader objectives of Gulf integration and regional solidarity.

In light of these findings, the study recommends greater utilization of GCC documents in historical and political research, the promotion of joint research initiatives between academic institutions in the United Arab Emirates and the State of Kuwait, and the strengthening of document preservation and digital archiving practices to support the documentation of Gulf relations and provide valuable resources for future scholarship.
