Doctoral Thesis: The Artistic Structure in the Novels of Abdullah Al-Nuaimi – A Critical Analytical Study
This study aims to examine the elements of artistic structure in the novels of Abdullah Al-Nuaimi, to highlight the uniqueness of his narrative discourse, and to contribute a serious scholarly work to the Arabic library on the subject of artistic construction in the novel.
The study adopts a structuralist methodology, which involves collecting descriptive data about the phenomenon, and then attempting to diagnose, analyze, correlate, and interpret this data, classify and measure it, determine the nature of the relationships between its components, and extract meaningful conclusions.
The study reached several key findings, the most important of which are: the elements of artistic structure in Abdullah Al-Nuaimi’s novels were employed in a deliberate and carefully selected manner. Al-Nuaimi relied on a variety of social characters to present his ideas and perspectives on the issues addressed in his works. He focused more on the psychological dimension of character construction than on their physical attributes. He also gave exceptional attention to setting, as all the studied novels are titled after the places where the events occur.
The language used by the author is clear and simple, free from complexity in both wording and meaning. It suits the different social, cultural, and intellectual levels of the characters who speak it. Moreover, the language reflects the consciousness carried by the author and conveyed through the characters he created.
