Unlocking Reservoir Properties Using Neutron Logs: Insights from the Red Sea
This study evaluates the reservoir potential and reservoir–seal relationship in the Oil Field, Gulf of Suez, Egypt, using integrated well-log and petrophysical analysis. Neutron and mud logs were used to characterize lithology, porosity, and fluid distribution. The Nukhul and Thebes formations exhibit relatively higher porosity and represent the main reservoir intervals, whereas shallow evaporitic and carbonate formations act as effective seals. Fluid analysis indicates water-dominated shallow zones and weak to fair hydrocarbon potential at deeper intervals, supporting exploration and development strategies.
