Applied Biology Research Forum – Seminar by Ms. Mona Mahfood
The Department of Applied Biology successfully hosted a seminar on Thursday, 12th February 2026, as part of the Applied Biology Research Forum 2025–2026 titled “CRISPR Screening as a Functional Genomics Strategy: Insights from Advanced Training at the Wellcome Sanger Institute.” The seminar was delivered by Ms. Mona Mahfood, who provided an engaging overview of CRISPR-based screening technologies and their applications in functional genomics. Drawing on her advanced training at the Wellcome Sanger Institute, she shared practical insights into large-scale genome-wide screening approaches and their relevance to modern biomedical research. The event attracted students and faculty members interested in gene editing technologies and highlighted the department’s commitment to advancing research excellence and knowledge exchange.
