College of Pharmacy Students Gain Practical Industry Experience at MicroSynergy Pharmaceuticals
The College of Pharmacy at the University of Sharjah organized a one-day industrial visit for fourth-year pharmacy students to MicroSynergy Pharmaceuticals FZCO in Jebel Ali, Dubai, United Arab Emirates, on September 25, 2026. The visit provided students with an opportunity to connect concepts learned in their academic courses with real-world pharmaceutical manufacturing and quality control practices.
During the visit, students toured the production department, where they observed the manufacturing of solid and liquid dosage forms and followed key stages of pharmaceutical production, from raw material handling and manufacturing to quality testing and final packaging. They were also introduced to large-scale pharmaceutical equipment, including capsule-filling machines, tablet compression machines, V-blenders, and coating machines, gaining insight into their applications in industrial production.
Students also visited the Quality Control Department, including the microbiology and analytical chemistry laboratories. They observed analytical techniques such as high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), thin-layer chromatography (TLC), and gas chromatography (GC), as well as routine quality control tests for solid dosage forms, including friability, hardness, thickness, dissolution, and disintegration testing.
The visit provided valuable practical exposure and strengthened students’ understanding of pharmaceutical manufacturing, quality control, and the importance of product quality and safety. The College of Pharmacy extends its appreciation to MicroSynergy Pharmaceuticals FZCO for its support and for providing students with this valuable educational experience.
