Pharmaceutics Experiential Learning in Action: College of Pharmacy Students Visit LIFEPharma
The College of Pharmacy at the University of Sharjah organized an industrial visit to LIFEPharma Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Company in Jebel Ali, Dubai, United Arab Emirates, on October 2, 2026. As part of the College’s pharmaceutics experiential learning activities, the visit enabled pharmacy students to connect the theoretical and practical knowledge gained in their Dosage Forms I and II courses with real-world pharmaceutical manufacturing practices. The visit was organized by Dr. Muna Najm and supervised by Dr. Muna Najm, Ms. Lama Abdulmoti, and Ms. Baraah Hikmat.
Following an introductory session, students toured the Quality Control Department, where they learned about raw material testing, stability studies, and microbiological testing and observed analytical equipment used in pharmaceutical quality control. They also visited the production and storage areas, gaining practical insights into raw material handling and weighing and key manufacturing processes, including mixing and granulation, across production lines for tablets, capsules, and liquid preparations.
The visit concluded with a meeting with LIFEPharma’s chief executive officer, who shared insights into the pharmaceutical industry and encouraged students to explore career opportunities within the sector.
Overall, the visit provided students with valuable exposure to pharmaceutical manufacturing and quality control, reinforcing concepts studied in their pharmaceutics courses and demonstrating their application in an industrial setting.
