Improving Legal Education: Exploring the Potentials and Addressing the Challenges in Teaching Legal Clinics

The University of Sharjah, in collaboration with the Institute of Air and Space Law AEROHELP, successfully hosted the 2nd International Air Law Moot Court Competition from October 21 to 23, 2024. This international legal event brought together future legal professionals and law students from different countries to engage in a high-level simulation of court proceedings focused on contemporary challenges in international air law.

The competition offered a unique academic platform for participants to develop their advocacy skills, enhance their understanding of air law, and interact with experienced judges and legal experts in the field. The hypothetical case this year addressed pressing issues in the aviation sector, including state responsibility, passenger rights, and liability for airborne incidents, reflecting the evolving nature of international aviation law. The final round witnessed impressive legal arguments presented before a distinguished panel of international judges, followed by an awards ceremony celebrating the winning teams and their outstanding performance. This moot court stands as a testament to the University of Sharjah’s commitment to legal excellence and its role in promoting specialized fields such as air and space law.
