The College of Law at the University of Sharjah hosted a media team from Sharjah TV as part of the "My University" (Jam’ati) program. Aired subsequently on the channel, the episode showcased the college’s academic excellence and dynamic student life. The segment further underscored the college’s commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and student development.

During the visit, Prof. Dr. Adnan Sarhan, Dean of the College, participated in an in-depth interview. He highlighted the college’s prominent standing as one of the largest law schools in terms of student enrollment and the diversity of its academic offerings. He also emphasized the college’s distinguished position within the UAE, the GCC, and the wider Arab region.

 
Academic Programs
The Dean detailed the seven academic programs offered by the college:
  • Undergraduate Level: Two bachelor’s programs, offered in both Arabic and English.
  • Master’s Level: Two Arabic-taught programs (Public Law and Private Law) and one English-taught program in Air and Space Law, conducted in cooperation with the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA).
  • Doctoral Level: Two PhD programs in Public Law and Private Law.

Prof. Sarhan noted an increasing trend of students enrolling in the English-taught bachelor’s program to meet labor market demands.

Legislative Development and Modernization

The Dean underscored the college’s commitment to keeping pace with the UAE’s rapid legislative renaissance. The college actively provides feedback on draft laws when requested and prioritizes the continuous update of its curricula and study plans to reflect the latest legal developments.

Strategic Partnerships

The interview highlighted the college’s extensive network of partnerships with judicial and legal institutions, including:

  • Judicial Departments and Public Prosecutions in Sharjah, Dubai, and Ras Al Khaimah.
  • Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) Courts.
  • Leading Law Firms: Including Al Tamimi , Habib Al Mulla, Ibrahim Al Mulla, and Dhahir bin Jua'an Al Dhaheri.

These collaborations facilitate knowledge exchange, joint workshops, student training, and research projects, such as:

  • A project with the Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority (SEWA) on administrative inspection.
  • A project with the Supreme Legislation Committee in Dubai regarding floating real estate units.
  • International Academic Cooperation: A joint master’s in law and economics (Double Degree) in English with the University of Hamburg, Germany, and a joint PhD supervision program with the University of Luxembourg.

International Accreditations and Rankings

One of the most significant achievements discussed was the college’s International Accreditation from the High Council for Evaluation of Research and Higher Education (HCERES) in France for all its programs—making it the only law college in the UAE to achieve this comprehensive recognition. Furthermore, the college received the maximum re-accreditation period from the Commission for Academic Accreditation (CAA) of the UAE Ministry of Education.

In terms of global rankings, the college achieved:

  • 1st in the UAE in the Scimago Journal Rank (SJR) for research quality.
  • 1st in the UAE in the Times Higher Education (THE) subject rankings.
  • 2nd in the UAE and 3rd in the GCC in the QS World University Rankings.

Student Engagement

The media coverage extended to interactive student activities, including a competition-style session designed to foster collaboration. Interviews with students allowed them to share their academic journeys, the motives behind choosing their specializations, and their future aspirations.
