Effective studying is your path to academic success.

As part of the Student Success Committee's activity program, a training workshop titled "Effective Study Skills: Your Path to Success" was held for students of the College of Law.

The session was presented by Dr. Mudhafar Jaber Al-Rawi, Associate Professor in the Private Law Department.

The workshop, which took place at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, covered several essential topics for academic excellence. Key highlights included:

  • Foundations of Effective Learning: Emphasizing comprehension over rote memorization, organization, planning, and "smart revision" techniques.
  • Enhancing Focus: Strategies for improving concentration, reducing distractions, and utilizing effective repetition methods.
  • Avoiding Random Study Habits: Moving away from unstructured learning toward a more disciplined approach.

Dr. Al-Rawi also addressed common negative behaviors that hinder student performance, such as excessive mobile phone use, staying up late before exams, memorizing without understanding, and studying without a clear plan. To counter these challenges, the workshop proposed practical solutions, including:

  • Setting clear goals and time management.
  • Minimizing mental distractions and choosing the right study environment.
  • Creating structured study schedules.

The session concluded with a practical demonstration by Dr. Al-Rawi on how to approach a specific law course correctly, illustrating the optimal method for mastering academic material.

The workshop witnessed significant student attendance and high levels of engagement.

Dr. Al-Rawi concluded by answering students' inquiries and providing guidance on various academic challenges encountered during their university journey.
