College of Law Delegation Visits Dubai DIFC Courts
Strengthening Strategic Partnerships
In alignment with its 2024–2030 Strategic Plan, which aims to expand cooperation with prominent legal entities in the UAE, a delegation from the College of Law visited the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) Courts on Tuesday, April 28, 2026. The delegation was led by Prof. Dr. Adnan Ibrahim Sarhan, Dean of the College, accompanied by Ms. Bahia Al Hosani, Executive of Dean’s Office Operations.Key Discussion Outcomes
The delegation was received by His Excellency Judge Omar Al Mheiri, Director of the DIFC Courts. During the two-hour meeting, both parties explored avenues for mutual cooperation in student training and professional development. Key outcomes included:
- Practical Training for Students: H.E. the Director expressed the Courts' readiness to train senior students from the Bachelor of Laws (English Program). Students will be actively involved in legal tasks designed to help them acquire essential practical skills.
- Faculty-Led Workshops: It was agreed that specialized faculty members from the College will provide short training courses for Court staff. These sessions will focus on topics related to the Common Law system, under which the DIFC Courts operate, as part of the College’s commitment to community service.
Field Tour and Recognition
Following the meeting, H.E. Judge Omar Al Mheiri led the delegation on a tour of the grand courtrooms, providing a detailed explanation of the administrative and judicial workflows.
Closing Ceremony:
The visit concluded with an exchange of commemorative shields. As a gesture of appreciation, the Dean presented H.E. the Director with several legal publications authored by the college faculty, thanking him for his hospitality and support.
