Compressed air energy storage with ancillary expansion cooling

Prof. Abdul Hai Alami research focuses on mechanical energy storage in compressed air. A compressor is operated using renewable resources to pressurize air in storage tanks when supply exceeds demand. Once demand is high the system is discharged into an air motor which is coupled with an electric generator and hence electricity is released. The decompressed air creates a cooling effect that can be utilized in expansion cooling.
