The College of Engineering, University of Sharjah, through its Department of Architectural Engineering, recently organized an insightful site visit for our Architecture students to the Dewani Villa Project. The visit provided students with a unique opportunity to explore the design process on-site, understand practical challenges, and gain professional insights beyond the classroom. We were honored to be welcomed by the owner and designer, Mr. Hisham Al Madhloum, who personally guided the students, explaining the villa’s design concepts, architectural details, and key decision-making processes. His expertise offered students direct exposure to professional architectural thinking and practice. The initiative was coordinated by Dr. Aref Maksoud, who highlighted the importance of experiential learning in preparing students for future careers in architecture and the built environment. Opportunities like this strengthen the link between academic knowledge and professional practice, equipping students with both technical skills and hands-on experience.
