UAE Hackathon

Our students Maitha Ahmed Saleh Mohamed Alzarooni and Shaima Ahmed Saleh Mohamed Alzarooni have won the third-place prize in the UAE's hackathon - Entrepreneurs Track. The students participated with their project named 'Tawasul (smart gloves)' that translates sign language into text and speech messages. The event is the biggest hackathon in the UAE, organized by TDRA (The Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority). The theme of the hackathon was 'Eliminating Government Bureaucracy' to receive ideas to simplify and reduce government procedures and to eliminate unnecessary procedures and requirements. Tawasul suits the theme because it eliminates unnecessary procedures and requirements, facilitating communication between impaired individuals and others in government and customer services. The prize distribution ceremony was honored by HH Sheikh Saood bin Sultan Al-Qassimi, the General Director of the Sharjah Digital Department, and H.E. Eng. Majid Almesmar, the General Director of TDRA.
